About Bankzia
Last updated: 2026-06-25
Bankzia is a free, independent guide to U.S. banks and credit unions. We combine official financial data from the FDIC (banks) and NCUA (credit unions) with the CFPB Consumer Complaint Database to give every institution a single, comparable Trust Grade — without a paywall, login, or marketing email collection.
Why we built this
The government publishes excellent data, but its tools only let you look upone institution at a time. There’s no easy way to ask “is this bank financially strong, and do its customers get treated well?” — let alone compare two. Bankzia turns that raw public data into a decision tool: one grade, fully explained, for every FDIC- and NCUA-insured institution.
What we cover
- 4,269 banks — FDIC financials and branch locations
- 4,325 credit unions — NCUA call-report financials
- Complaints — CFPB complaint volume, response timeliness, and relief rates
- The Trust Grade — our documented A–F blend of financial strength and customer experience
How we stay current
We refresh from the FDIC and NCUA call reports and the CFPB complaint feed on a regular schedule, so financials and complaint trends reflect the latest published federal data.
What we don’t do
We are not a bank, broker, or financial advisor, and we are not affiliated with the FDIC, NCUA, CFPB, or any institution we cover. The Trust Grade is a general-information comparison, not financial advice — and not a statement about deposit safety, which federal insurance protects up to legal limits regardless of grade.
